The cubital tunnel is a point at the inside of your elbow where the ulnar nerve travels through, which innervates the sensation to your ring and pinky fingers, and is responsible for your power grip and dexterity. Usually with repetitive or prolonged gripping, or in combination with prolonged elbow bending, the cubital tunnel becomes inflamed and puts pressure on the ulnar nerve, causing numbness and tingling into the ring and pinky fingers, pain, and sometimes weakening.

What is cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS)?

People that we commonly see with CuTS are the desk worker who props their elbow on the armrest all day or are not set up ergonomically, the climber loading their elbow repeatedly, the post-op patient recovering from an elbow fracture or ulnar nerve transposition. If you've been waking up with a numb pinky or dropping things you used to grip easily, this might be why.

How do we treat it at Reach Beyond Therapy?

At Reach Beyond Therapy, every session is one-on-one — just you and your therapist, no aides, no rushing, no shortened sessions, and no shared appointments with other clients. Because cubital tunnel syndrome looks different in every patient, your plan is built around your specific situation — whether that means a custom elbow splint to protect your nerve at night, nerve gliding exercises to restore mobility, or a progressive strengthening program to rebuild grip and pinch strength to prepare you for the activities that need it. We adjust as you improve, moving at the pace that's right for you.
